Escambia County will host a Black History Month program and celebration Friday, Feb. 28, featuring performances from local youth, live entertainment, free food and more. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Brownsville Community Resource Center, located at 3200 W. De Soto St. This free community event will include music, dancing, poetry readings, skits and exhibits celebrating Black History Month. This year's theme is "Black History is American History." In the newest edition of "May's Message," District 3 Commissioner Lumon May speaks with six great African American leaders in our community, in conjunction with Black History Month.
